“YLLA” Turning Youth Ideas Into Action
With real data in hand, YLLA youth transformed research into action. They designed and launched five pilot projects to tackle urgent community challenges — from improving education opportunities to creating safe spaces and promoting youth employment.
But YLLA was about more than projects. It introduced Egypt’s first YouthBank model — a groundbreaking approach where young people decide how funding is used in their own communities. The youth reviewed proposals, visited projects, monitored progress, and shared lessons across neighborhoods.
The journey concluded with a public celebration, bringing together families, neighbors, and community leaders to honor the most impactful projects. The event showcased the creativity, leadership, and determination of young people proving that real change begins within communities — when youth lead the way.
